The bustling activity depicted in this painting is the preparation for the impending wedding of Rama and Sita, and specifically their fathers' meetings with the family priests. Rama's father, Dasaratha, appears in the center of the painting with a white beard and yellow clothing; he is conversing with the family priest. Below this scene, Dasaratha is shown again offering cows to a group of brahmans, and yet a third time to the right seated within a royal tent. Sita's father, Janaka, can be seen to the left, with a mauve-colored robe and a dark beard. The bride and bridegroom are included in the scene as well are depicted in separate tents with their companions, above the tent with Rama's father. Along the bottom of the painting, trunks filled with wedding gifts arrive at the palace.
