Art Preparator, Part Time
Part Time Preparator, working under the supervision of the Director of Operations, will have a variety of tasks and functions to perform relating to all aspects of construction, fabrication and installation of permanent and temporary exhibitions. Primary responsibility is the safe and careful handling of art objects. Maintenance of permanent collection includes but is not limited to lighting, dusting and painting gallery space, building crates, packing and receiving art works, as well as making components of the permanent collection ready for travel.
Requirements
- Bachelors in Studio Art or Media and a minimum of two years experience working in a museum environment or art related field.
- Strong construction and finish carpentry skills a must; mount making a plus.
- Must demonstrate competence in handling works of art.
- Must demonstrate safe use of shop tools both power and hand tools.
- Must be able to operate lift equipment.
- Must be able to stand for long periods.
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds
- Must be able to bend and reach to lift.
- Heavy usage of manually controlled equipment.
- Must have good manual dexterity and visual acuity skills.
- Must be able to work as a team member.
Some driving required upon request. Valid California driver's license and proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage is required. All applicants must pass a background check and drug screen.

This position works under the supervision of the Director of Operations and Lead Theater Technician. Applicants should be technically well-versed to deal with a variety of theatrical and audio-visual applications. Applicants should also be efficient, courteous, and helpful in assisting with the execution of presentations. Basic theatrical theory such as stage terminology, knots, using basic tools, stage hardware, and stage machinery is required.
This position requires the knowledge of power and electricity, the ability to work safely with electrical equipment, and the ability to work safely and comfortably in heights over 10' and overhead, including climbing ladders and operating and working in personnel lifts. The applicant must also be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs., as well as pushing, pulling, bending, kneeling etc.
B.A., M.A., or a degree in a related field is preferred, or a minimum of at least two years of experience.

Security, Gallery Attendant, Part Time
Assigned to galleries to protect visitors, collection and property. Reports concerns or problems to supervisor. Gallery Attendants are required to work four days per week. Work days include Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday 11:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. and Friday 11:45 – 9:00 p.m. Flexible schedules are possible. This position pays $9.25 per hour.
