The Art of Norton Simon: Awarded "The Chris" at the 48th Annual Columbus International Film & Video Festival and The Gold Award for Arts/Culture at the Worldfest-Houston Festival, "The Art of Norton Simon" is a 30-minute documentary film by Charles and Davis Guggenheim. Narrated by the late Gregory Peck, the film recounts Norton Simon’s extraordinary success in business and his interest in art, both of which facilitated his becoming one of the world’s preeminent art collectors. Using archival photographs and film taken from private sources, Davis Guggenheim tells the story of Simon’s life through the recollections of the people who knew him best. Sister Wendy at the Norton Simon Museum: The Museum is pleased to present a video by Sister Wendy Beckett, author of more than fifteen books and the host of numerous BBC television programs about art. As in her previous work, Sister Wendy brings the Museum’s collection alive with her knowledge, unique style of story telling and endearing wit. She claims "...whenever Simon speaks about art you’ve got to listen, because he had a wonderful eye." The same could be said of her. All three 20-minute episodes have been compiled into an hour-long feature now showing in the Theater. Should you wish to own your own copy of this insightful and entertaining compilation, it can be purchased at the Museum Store.
