Natural Beauty: Drawing the Horses of Degas

Date: Friday, May 10, 2013
Time: 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Educator: Jamie Sweetman
Type: Drawing Class

Celebrate the beauty of nature with artist Jamie Sweetman as she leads a series of drawing classes in the galleries and garden. Students practice essential drawing techniques aimed at better understanding natural forms.

The sculptures of Edgar Degas embody the elegance and grace of their subjects. In this second session, students spend an evening drawing directly from the Norton Simon’s collection of Degas horse sculptures. Participants concentrate on drawing forms, using core shadows to emphasize volume.
