Nature Morte and the Significant Objects Exhibition: Herms and the 20th Century
Date: Friday, November 09, 2012
Time: 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Teacher: Cole Case
Type: Drawing Class
Los Angeles–based artist Cole Case leads an in-depth investigation of the still-life genre. The four-part course examines the formal compositional elements of works from the Museum’s collection and the exhibition "Significant Objects: The Spell of Still Life." Using the techniques discussed, students create original compositions inspired by the work of the masters.
Herms and the 20th Century
The 20th century launched investigations into the use of everyday objects as both subject matter and material. Participants focus on the incorporation of nontraditional art-making materials and create a collage inspired by the works of Picasso, Braque and Herms.
