On View

Part of a throne or an aureole for a large Buddha image, this panel is covered with intricate designs. The central figure of the panel is Bodhisattva Samamabhadra identified by the deity’s elephant mount. He is flanked by a mythical half-feline, half-avian creature known as a sardula. Along the edge of the panel is a series of four seated Buddha figures emanating from the tail of a kinnara, a half-man, half-avian creature.
