El Lissitzky (Russian, 1890-1941)
Not on View

In the 1920s Lissitzky designed a number of museum installations in Germany. In 1925 he published a book with Jean Arp, and in 1927 he painted the murals for the Hannover Landesmuseum's Hall of the Moderns, later destroyed by the Nazis. Although Lissitzky was well known in Germany in the early 1920s, Scheyer probably first became acquainted with his work through her friends at the Bauhaus.
