Platte was a member of several artistic and literary groups in the 1920s, but eventually preferred to work in isolation. It was probably through his friendship with Jawlensky that Platte met Galka Scheyer. She brought this watercolor on her first trip to America and exhibited it in the European Modernist exhibits in Los Angeles and Oakland in 1927-28.
