Dancing Ganesha
10th century
Asia: India, Uttar Pradesh; Asia: India, Madhya Pradesh
Not on View

Like his father, Shiva, Ganesha dances with exuberance. Four-armed, he holds a trident with one of his right hands and a lotus bud with one of his left hands. The plump, elephant-headed god is sometimes represented in a boyish, slightly playful manner, as he is here.
