Silver Suite IX

Not on View

The Silver Suite consists of nine lithographs plus a title and colophon page, all printed by the artist, Garo Antreasian, at the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque. The lithographs were printed on self-adhesive silver foil laminated to rag paper in what was the first such investigation of using foil for printing. During assembly, particles clung to the surface of the prints due to static electricity, and special accommodations had to be made to wipe or brush the works down to remove any dust or lint. Antreasian’s experimentation suited the artist-printmaker, as his extraordinary skill at printing, coupled with his artistic interests, encouraged him to constantly investigate new materials for art making.
