DATE:
TIME:
4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Teacher:
Richard Houston

Join artist and educator Richard Houston for a series of drawing classes exploring costume and draping of the clothed figure in the Norton Simon collections. Using artworks in the Museum’s Renaissance and Baroque galleries, participants learn how to design and draw the costumed figure.

In our third session, the class will explore a general procedure for costume drawing, from start to finish. We will begin with a gestural analysis and methodically work our way through a series of steps until we have completed our drawing. Dramatic paintings by Peter Paul Rubens and Guercino will serve as models during this class.
