Consider how artists have explored the science of perception, looking at color, composition, perspective and scale throughout European and American art history. Following a discussion of perspective in 16th-century painting and 17th-century landscapes, examine the use of color by Impressionist and Expressionist painters such as Claude Monet and Vincent van Gogh. Finally, engage with color and abstraction in works by Donald Judd and Agnes Martin.
