A Pacific Profile of Young West Coast Painters

A Pacific Profile of Young West Coast Painters displayed 40 works created by 40 young artists living on the West Coast. The exhibition was organized by Constance Perkins, Professor of Art at Occidental College and sponsored by the Western Association of Art Museums with the intent to raise institutional awareness of younger artists. Artists participating in the show included John Altoon (1925­–1969), Billy Al Bengston (1934–2022), Karl Benjamin (1925–2012), Joan Brown (1938–1990), Robert Irwin (1928–2023), Irene and Gerd Koch and Noriko Yamamoto. A catalogue with photographs and short biographies of each artist alongside illustrations of their work accompanied the exhibition.
