The Spirit of Modernism: Galka Scheyer in the New World
The Spirit of Modernism: Galka Scheyer in the New World is a major exhibition of twentieth century art from the famed Blue Four Galka Scheyer Collection. A pioneer supporter of the avant-garde, Scheyer was responsible for the first public presentations in America of some of the major figures of European modernism. The Spirit of Modernism presents over 200 works of art from Scheyer's collection, including those of the renowned Blue Four artists Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Lyonel Feininger and Alexei Jawlensky. In addition, works by Pablo Picasso, Oskar Kokoschka, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Alexander Archipenko, Lazlo Moholy-Nagy, Emil Nolde, Otto Dix, Kurt Schwitters, Franz Marc, Imogen Cunningham, Edward Weston and others will be shown.
