The Norton Simon Museum presents Painted Poems: Rajput Paintings from the Ramesh and Urmil Kapoor Collection. The first comprehensive public showing of this distinguished collection, Painted Poems comprises 85 paintings dating from 1450 to 1900. These colorful and dynamic works depict stories from the great Hindu epics, religious texts, poems from devotional literature, as well as portraits and scenes of courtly life. The exhibition is augmented by other works of art including decorative and utilitarian objects of the period such as vases, decorated boxes and ceramic ware.
