Rembrandt Rarities
Rembrandt van Rijn has long been celebrated as one of the great painters in the pantheon of artists. The same is also true for his innovative work as a printmaker. To commemorate the 400th anniversary of the artist’s birth, the Norton Simon Museum presents an exhibition of eighteen of his rare and fine etchings. Among the works on paper included are landscapes such as Six’s Bridge (1645), figure studies including a proof state of an Old Man with a Flowing Beard (1630) and one early genre subject, A Cavalry Fight (1632).
