To Do Battle: Conflict, Struggle and Symbol in Art
To Do Battle: Conflict, Struggle and Symbol in Art features over 75 objects from the Museum’s permanent collection that deal with aggression in its various forms. War, rape and violence have long been popular subjects in art for their narrative and emotive force. This exhibition presents a wide-ranging collection of paintings, prints and sculpture from Eastern and Western cultures from antiquity to the present, illustrating how artists have depicted conflict symbolically, graphically, and as a metaphor for other struggles.
