Audio: Gaze: Portraiture after Ingres

Assistant Curator Leah Lehmbeck traces artistic engagements with portraiture following French master Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres's influence in the early to mid-19th century through to the present day, and examines why this genre, so seemingly laden with restrictions and expectations, appealed to some of the greatest avant-garde painters in the history of art.
