Virtual Tour: Goya's "Los Desastres de la Guerra"

In this short video, Curator Gloria Williams Sander explores Francisco de Goya’s artistic process through a series of working proofs from Desastres de la Guerra, the artist’s harrowing, brutal print series portraying the conflict, suffering and famine brought about by Napoleon’s invasion of Spain. This spectacular set of working proofs, one of only two in the world, is part of the Museum’s considerable holdings by Goya.

I Saw It: Francisco de Goya, Printmaker is on view April 19–August 5, 2024.
