Asian Sculpture Garden
Lovers of Asian art should take the time to also visit the small sculpture garden off of the Museum’s lower-level galleries. Here are a dozen works from India and Southeast Asia, including the marvelous schist Bull with Shivalingam and Other Images, possibly from 16th-century Rajasthan, India, and the stunning granite Buddha Shakyamuni, c. 1100, from Tamil Nadu, India, which can be seen from inside the gallery of Chola bronze sculptures. Plants in this area include several silk floss and olive trees, giant birds of paradise, bamboo and Japanese maple.
