Alexei Jawlensky - A Centennial Exhibition

This exhibition celebrated the centennial birth of Alexei Jawlensky (1864–1941). With more than 200 works, including oils, lithographs and watercolors, the show was the first retrospective of the artist’s work in the United States. The checklist was drawn primarily from the Blue Four Galka Scheyer Collection currently held at the Norton Simon Museum. Alexei Jawlensky – A Centennial Exhibition went on a national tour to the Rose Art Museum, Brandeis University; the Winnipeg Art Gallery, Canada; the University Art Gallery, University of California, Berkeley; the University Art Gallery, University of New Mexico; and the Isaac Delgado Museum of Art, New Orleans. An illustrated catalogue was published to accompany the exhibition.
